What is hair pigmentation (SMP)?

Hair pigmentation is a cosmetic pigmentation of the scalp in which fine colour dots recreate the base of very short hair. The hair looks denser, nothing grows back from it. Isabels Beauty Club carries out hair pigmentation as a pigmentation like permanent make-up. In every session, as required in Bavaria, sterile single-use needles are used, plus the disinfection regime documented in the studio.

What does hair pigmentation cost in Munich?

One zone costs 400 € per session at Isabels Beauty Club, two zones cost 450 € per session. For the whole build-up with 2, 3 or 4 sessions that is 800, 1,200 or 1,600 € for one zone and 900, 1,350 or 1,800 € for two zones. The price applies per session, every follow-up session costs the same as the first. Densification on the crown costs 700 € per session, the full head 550 €, scar pigmentation 150 €, the refresh 400 €; every price is listed directly with the bookable position. Is hair pigmentation a therapy for hair loss?

Hair pigmentation is not a therapy for hair loss and does not make hair grow. Hair pigmentation is also not a surgical and not a medical procedure. The effect is optical and rests on the contrast between scalp and dot. If the cause of your hair loss is not clarified, or if it appears new, patchy or rapidly progressing, please have it clarified by a doctor first. Isabel pigments only after that.

Is hair pigmentation suitable for women with thinning hair?

Hair pigmentation can also be suitable for women with thinning hair. Isabel places the dots between the existing hairs, above all along the parting, without shaving. The scalp can optically show through less afterwards. The hair does not gain volume from it, it does not feel denser in the hand. Isabel names the limit in the consultation before the first session begins.

Can hair pigmentation conceal receding corners and the hairline?

Receding corners and a receded hairline can be optically concealed depending on the starting situation. Isabel traces the line dot by dot and optically fills in the corners. An appointment at the hairline takes 90 minutes at Isabels Beauty Club, for one zone as for two zones. 2 to 4 sessions are usual, small areas are mostly at the lower end. Isabel deliberately sets the line soft, a hard edge ages badly.

How is the look of a freshly shaved head created?

The look is created by thousands of individual dots in irregular distribution that recreate the shadow of closely shaved hair. The picture only wears well if you keep cutting your hair to 1 to 2 millimetres. The decision about hair length concerns your everyday life, not the treatment, which is why it belongs in the consultation and not in the small print.

Can scars on the scalp be pigmented?

Mature, light scars on the scalp can be pigmented by Isabel. Scar pigmentation optically evens out the colour difference between a light scar and the scalp next to it, the scar itself remains unchanged. Isabel works at the earliest 12 months after a hair transplant and only on scars that have not changed for at least 12 months. Scar tissue takes colour less predictably than healthy scalp, which is why a small test patch comes first.

How does a session go, and how many appointments are needed?

Hair pigmentation usually needs 2 to 4 sessions. Before the first session Isabels Beauty Club offers a consultation with photo advice, 30 minutes for 30 €, credited towards the first session. An appointment at Isabels Beauty Club takes 60 to 225 minutes depending on the area. Isabels Beauty Club plans 10 to 14 days between two sessions so that the scalp heals and it becomes visible how much colour has remained. Adding is possible in the next session, taking back is not. Medical history and consent belong before the first session in any case, even without a separate consultation appointment.

How long does the result last, and when does a refresh make sense?

The pigment fades over time. How quickly depends on skin type, sun and care, Isabels Beauty Club does not promise any particular durability. Year figures circulating in the market are empirical values, not measured values. Reliable measurements over years do not exist, a fading is already measurable in the first months. A refresh makes sense when the picture becomes too light for you, not by calendar.

Does hair pigmentation hurt?

The sensitivity of the scalp differs from person to person. On the hairline and at the temples the pigmentation is usually felt more clearly than on the crown. Isabel works with breaks, changes the zone when a spot becomes sensitive, and prefers to split a session rather than push through it. Isabels Beauty Club does not promise anaesthesia.

What should be observed after the session?

The scalp stays unwashed for 72 hours after the session, from day 4 it is washed mildly and lukewarm. Until day 5 applies: no sport, no heavy sweating, no shaving. The flakes fall off by themselves from day 5 to 10, please do not scratch and do not remove them. No direct sun on the scalp for 21 days, afterwards sun protection 30 to 50 remains part of it later on. Sauna, steam bath, swimming pool and sunbed at the earliest 28 days after the last session.

Which hair colours is hair pigmentation suitable for?

What disadvantages does hair pigmentation have?

A hair pigmentation cannot be taken back without residue, the result is individual, and the colour can shift over time. The colour looks darker in the first days than the later picture, afterwards lighter and uneven. Specialist sources also describe a blurring of the dots with work that is too deep and a shift towards blue-grey. As with every pigmentation an infection, an allergic reaction and small nodules are possible, which is why medical history and aftercare are part of it. Before an MRI examination please mention the pigmentation. Plan as if the picture were to stay.

For whom is hair pigmentation not suitable?

Hair pigmentation is not suitable for unexplained, patchy or rapidly progressing hair loss, for existing diseases or acute inflammation of the scalp, for a tendency to keloids, during pregnancy and breastfeeding and under 18 years. Isabels Beauty Club makes no diagnosis and names no cause. With blood-thinning medication, with isotretinoin in the last 12 months and with autoimmune diseases please have the appointment clarified by a doctor beforehand. What distinguishes hair pigmentation from a hair transplant?

Hair pigmentation places colour into the upper scalp and changes the picture of the scalp. A hair transplant moves your own hair and is a medical procedure with a different aim. Hair pigmentation and hair transplant do not exclude each other, many have the donor scar pigmented after a hair transplant. How does the consultation go?

You can send photos of your scalp in advance, then Isabel gives you a first assessment before you travel whether a consultation makes sense; the final assessment takes place on site. Isabel and you define area, shade, number of sessions, price, medical history and consent in the consultation. Which colour is used, and what is documented about it?

Isabels Beauty Club uses purchased tattoo inks for hair pigmentation. Needles and cartridges are single-use items and are disposed of after the session. Inks for tattooing and for permanent make-up fall under entry 75 of Annex XVII of the European chemicals regulation in the European Union, plus the German tattoo ink regulation with seven mandatory details on the label, including the batch number and the list of ingredients. Anyone who wants to see which ink is used is shown the label in the consultation. The Bavarian hygiene regulation requires in § 2 sterile materials for everything that is introduced into the skin and prohibits the reuse of sterile single-use items.
