The Hollywood Peel

Carbon Peeling (Hollywood Peeling) in Munich and the surrounding area – everything you need to know about the popular laser treatment for smoother skin. Isabel, founder of Isabels Beauty Club and an experienced beautician for 25 years, answers the most important questions.

What is a Carbon Peeling?

I hear this every day from my clients here in Munich! (laughs) At its core, it’s quite simple: Carbon Peeling is a non-invasive laser treatment in which I combine activated charcoal with the latest laser technology. I apply a special lotion to your skin that’s enriched with tiny carbon nanoparticles. These particles penetrate deep into the pores and bind everything that doesn’t belong there: dirt, excess sebum, dead skin cells, bacteria.

Then my Nd:YAG laser comes into play. It reacts specifically to the dark carbon particles and makes them burst in controlled micro-explosions. It sounds dramatic, but it only feels like a warm tingling.

Why is it called “The Hollywood Peel”?

It’s because it’s extremely popular among the stars in Hollywood. Many celebrities have it done right before an appearance on the red carpet, because you’re ready to be seen again straight afterwards – no need to hide. That’s also the biggest difference compared to many other treatments. I have clients who come during their lunch break and go straight back to the office afterwards.

Imagine your skin being cleaned up from the inside out – that’s exactly what happens with Carbon Peeling. – Isabel

What particularly convinces me after 25 years of experience: it’s not an either-or. Carbon Peeling cleanses and rejuvenates at the same time. The warmth of the laser stimulates the body’s own collagen production – an anti-aging effect that I simply can’t achieve at this intensity with classic chemical peels.

How does the treatment work?

A session with me lasts between 30 and 60 minutes. I deliberately take my time, because good results require care. Here’s how it goes:

Before I start, we talk about your skin type, your wishes and any pre-existing conditions. Then I cleanse your skin thoroughly – that’s the foundation for everything that follows.

I apply a cool, thick gel with carbon nanoparticles evenly to your face. Many clients already find this pleasant. It dries within a few minutes.

03 First laser phase — warming

With low-energy laser pulses, I gently warm the carbon. Even now, the stimulation of collagen formation in the deeper layers of the skin begins.

04 Second laser phase — removal

Now it gets exciting: short, precise laser pulses make the carbon particles burst. Impurities, pigments and dead cells are removed along with them. You only feel a warm tingling during this.

To finish, I apply a soothing care cream. Your skin glows immediately – and you can head straight to your next appointment.

What does Carbon Peeling really do?

I’m very honest with my clients. After 25 years in the industry, I know: don’t promise anything you can’t deliver. Carbon Peeling is no miracle cure – but it works on several levels at once, and you can feel it:

  • Deep cleansing: The activated charcoal binds sebum, dirt and dead cells in the pores — the skin looks clearer right away.
  • Finer pores: Cleared pores appear visibly refined.
  • More even complexion: Pigments and blemishes are softened, the skin tone looks more uniform.
  • Collagen impulse: The laser warmth encourages the body’s own collagen formation — for a fresher-looking complexion over the long term.
  • Instant glow: The skin radiates right after the treatment, with no downtime.

How pronounced the effect turns out is individual and depends on skin type, starting condition and care — I can’t promise a specific result.

Is Carbon Peeling right for me?

In principle, it’s suitable for almost all skin types. In my studio, I particularly recommend it for:

  • Oily skin prone to blemishes
  • Enlarged pores and uneven skin texture
  • Blemishes, the appearance of acne scars and blackheads
  • Hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone
  • First signs of skin aging and fine lines
  • Dull, tired-looking skin without radiance
  • Sun-related pigment spots and an uneven complexion

Does Carbon Peeling hurt?

(laughs) That really is the most common question! And the answer is always the same: no, it doesn’t hurt. No needles, no burning. Most of my clients are surprised at how pleasant it is. Some even close their eyes and relax during it. Beauty should feel good – that’s important to me.

How many sessions do I need?

I get asked this all the time! My honest answer: you can already see a clear difference after just one session. Your skin glows, the pores look finer, the complexion is more even. Many of my clients come before a special event – a wedding, a birthday, an important appointment – and are thrilled after just one session.

For lasting results, however, I recommend a cycle of four to six treatments at intervals of two to four weeks. After that, refreshers two to three times a year are enough. I have clients here in Munich who only come once a year after the first cycle and still have beautiful skin.

What do I need to keep in mind before and after?

Yes, absolutely! In 25 years I’ve learned: aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself. Here are my personal recommendations:

Before the treatment

  • Come without makeup
  • Let me know about any skin irritations and medications
  • Heavily tanned skin can weaken the effect — no sun for 2 weeks beforehand
  • Drink plenty of water three days before
  • No peels or retinol for 7 days beforehand

After the treatment

  • Avoid direct sun for 48 hours
  • SPF 50 sun protection for 14 days
  • Avoid peels, retinol and acids for 5–7 days
  • Use mild care products
  • Avoid sauna and exercise for 1–2 days
  • A few small blemishes in the days afterwards are normal — the deep cleansing brings deposits from deeper layers up to the surface One note I give every client: in the days after the treatment, a few small blemishes may appear. In my experience this is normal and no cause for concern — it usually passes quickly.

Carbon Peeling vs. Classic Peeling

I’ve worked with fruit acid and mandelic acid peels for decades – they absolutely have their place. But Carbon Peeling has advantages that I simply can’t achieve with classic methods. Here’s the direct comparison:

  • How it works: Classic peels work chemically at the surface (fruit or mandelic acid); Carbon Peeling combines deep cleansing with laser warmth reaching into deeper layers.
  • Downtime: Chemical peels can leave redness or flaking depending on intensity — after Carbon Peeling you’re ready to be seen straight away.
  • Anti-aging: The added collagen impulse from warmth is something I can’t achieve in this form with classic peels.
  • Sensation: Instead of burning, just a warm tingling.

Which method is right for you depends on your skin goal — I’m happy to discuss that with you individually.

Isabel’s verdict — more than a trend

Because in 25 years I’ve learned to tell trends from genuine innovations. For me, Carbon Peeling isn’t a passing fashion, but a scientifically grounded method that I can recommend with a clear conscience.

It combines modern laser technology with the natural cleansing power of activated charcoal and aims at exactly what my clients are looking for: a visible instant glow and a pleasant treatment experience. How pronounced and how long-lasting the effect turns out is individual.

Whether for cosmetically refining the skin’s appearance in case of blemishes, for refining pores, as anti-aging care or simply for that special glow before an important occasion – the Hollywood Peel is, for good reason, a firm part of my treatment offering here in Munich and the surrounding area.
