Permanent hair removal

Permanent hair removal — Isabel explains what really happens.

Permanent hair removal with the Diodenlaser in Munich and the surrounding area – everything you need to know about the most modern method for lastingly smooth skin. Isabel, founder of Isabels Beauty Club and an experienced beautician for 25 years, answers the most important questions.

What is a Diodenlaser?

I have been working with various hair removal methods for many years – from waxing to IPL and different laser systems. For me, the Diodenlaser is by far the most effective technology I have come across in 25 years.

Here is how it works: the Diodenlaser emits bundled light with a wavelength of typically 808 nanometers. This light energy penetrates the upper layers of the skin and is absorbed by the melanin – the pigment in the hair root. There it is converted into heat. The heat selectively damages the hair root and the surrounding stem cells that are responsible for regrowth. The result: the treated hair falls out and, in most cases, grows back significantly reduced.

Modern Diodenlasers work with what is called SHR technology – that stands for Super Hair Removal. The key difference: instead of single, extremely strong pulses, the skin is heated slowly and gently. The device passes over the skin’s surface several times and builds up the heat softly. That is considerably less painful than conventional lasers or IPL, and at the same time more effective.

In the past, laser hair removal was something my clients had a lot of respect for. Today they say after the first session: that was really nothing at all! – Isabel

What Makes The Diodenlaser So Special?

After all these years, I know one thing: my clients want results – as comfortably as possible and without compromises. The Diodenlaser comes very close to that.

Before I list four advantages, let me first tell you what it cannot do: completely remove light, downy hairs on very fair skin. There the physics works against us. I would rather tell you now than after three sessions.

What it can do:

After a completed cycle, most report around 80 to 90 percent less hair — that is an experiential value, not a blanket advertising-style claim of “permanent.” What may come back are fine, individual hairs — not a field of stubble that is back again after three weeks.

I do not claim “you won’t feel anything.” I claim “so little that no client cancels the follow-up appointment.” Sapphire cooling to 5 °C, SHR technology instead of single pulses. Some clients read on their phone during the session.

Several wavelengths — from light to dark. For very fair or very dark skin, we discuss the settings individually. That happens before the first appointment, not during it.

Upper lip in 15 minutes. Legs in under an hour. Every 4 to 8 weeks. You walk out, no one notices anything, and you head back to the office.

How does a Diodenlaser treatment work?

I take enough time for every client. Depending on the area of the body, a session lasts between 15 minutes and one and a half hours. Here is how it goes:

Before the first treatment, we discuss your wishes, analyze your hair and skin type, and create an individual treatment plan. I explain to you exactly what you can expect – realistically and honestly.

The treatment area must be wet-shaved 24 hours beforehand. In the studio, I cleanse the skin and apply a contact gel that channels the laser pulse optimally into the skin.

With the Diodenlaser handpiece, I move evenly over the skin. The integrated sapphire cooling protects the skin’s surface while the light energy penetrates deep into the hair root. You only feel a slight sensation of warmth.

After the treatment, I calm the skin with a cooling care product. You are immediately presentable again – no downtime, no need to hide.

Is the Diodenlaser right for me?

Honestly: for almost every woman and every man who is tired of constant shaving, waxing, and epilating. The most diverse range of people comes to my studio. I particularly recommend the Diodenlaser for:

  • Unwanted hair on legs, underarms, the bikini zone, and the intimate area
  • Facial hair – upper lip, chin, cheeks
  • Back and chest hair in men
  • Ingrown hairs and razor burn
  • Sensitive skin that reacts to shaving and waxing with irritation
  • Dark to medium-blonde hair on fair to olive skin (laughs) Of course! And I can reassure everyone: the Diodenlaser is the least painful laser method I know. Thanks to the SHR technology and the integrated sapphire cooling, which cools the skin down to about 5 degrees, most people only feel a slight sensation of warmth. Some clients read on their phone during the session or chat with me – that is how relaxed it is.

How many sessions do I need?

That is the question of all questions! The honest answer: on average, 6 to 8 sessions are needed. The reason is simple: not all hairs are in the growth phase at the same time. The laser can only reach the hairs that are actively growing at that moment – that is about 20 to 30 percent per session.

The sessions take place 4 to 8 weeks apart, depending on the area of the body. Even after 2–3 treatments, my clients see a clear reduction. After the complete cycle, most report an 80–90 percent lasting hair reduction. Individual fine hairs that grow back can be treated with occasional touch-ups. Individual results may vary.

My clients always tell me: if I had known this earlier, I would never have had to struggle with shaving for so long. I hear that every week. – Isabel

My tips before and after the treatment

In 25 years I have learned: preparation and aftercare make the difference. This list is not about being fussy — it is the prerequisite for the laser to work cleanly.

Before the treatment

  • Two weeks no sun, no tanning bed
  • No self-tanner — pigment misleads the laser
  • Do not wax or epilate for four to twelve weeks beforehand (shaving is allowed)
  • Wet-shave 24 hours beforehand
  • For three days beforehand, at least three liters of water per day
  • On the day of the treatment: no make-up, no cream, no deodorant on the treatment area

After the treatment

  • Avoid direct sun for 14 days, use SPF 50 consistently
  • No sport, sauna, or hot bath for 24 to 48 hours
  • For slight redness: cool it, that’s all
  • No peelings, no retinol, no acids for seven days
  • Between sessions only shave — do not wax, do not epilate
  • If hairs fall out on their own after 1 to 2 weeks: do not panic. That is exactly what we want. Directly after the session, the skin can look like it does after a mild sunburn. That is normal and subsides within 24 to 48 hours.

Diodenlaser vs. IPL vs. waxing

I get this question every day. Here is the honest comparison from my studio:

Isabel’s verdict — done with shaving

Because it is simply the smartest solution. In 25 years I have seen it all – razor burn, ingrown hairs, skin irritated by waxing. The Diodenlaser can lastingly reduce hair considerably here – with the familiar 80–90% reduction after the complete cycle.

What makes me particularly happy: many of my clients here in Munich and the surrounding area say that permanent hair removal was one of the best decisions of their lives. No more stress with stubble, no more fear of summer, no more painful waxing appointments. Simply smooth, beautiful skin – every day.

Every woman deserves to feel comfortable in her own skin – without the daily battle with the razor. That is exactly what the Diodenlaser makes possible. – Isabel
